Founded by Adriano Ramos Pinto in 1880, Casa Ramos Pinto has an illustrious history. The winery was initially used to make wines headed only for South America, Brazil in particular, it soon became known around Europe for its high-quality wines. Today, Ramos Pinto is part of the prestigious Roederer Group, famous for their champagnes, particularly the esteemed Cristal Champagne.Quinta de Ervamoira is located in the Douro Demarcated Region, Douro Superior sub-region. It has a total area of 223 hectares ranging from 110 to 340 metres in altitude. The Quinta’s vineyards are exclusively planted vertically (with no need of terraces), in fields, with native grape varieties introduced by Ramos Pinto in the 1980s:white (e.g.:Rabigato, Viosinho, Folgazão) and red (e.g.:Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca, Tinta da Barca). The Single Quinta Vintage follows the original concept of a traditional Ramos Pinto Vintage. The difference between this Vintage and the others lies in the fact that it comes only from one Quinta:Quinta de Ervamoira.Fruit aromas, such as orange, apricot, plum and wood aromas. In the mouth, it is still noticeable fresh fruit. Good structure and perfect balance between fruit and alcohol. It finishes with a slight sour and woody notes.
