Romain Taupenot is one of the out and out stars of the Cote du Nuits of the moment. Aided by his sister Virginie, he's making superb Burgundy with exceptional purity from their cellar in Morey-Saint-Denis. Romain describes himself as a ‘vigneron paresseux’ – or a ‘lazy vigneron,’ hinting at his low intervention techniques in the cellar. Use of new oak is judicious, and they've been been farming organically (uncertified) since 2002 too.
