France | Gascony | Aromatic | Petit Manseng |
From 19th century bear tamers, to 21st century modern wine makers, the Grassa family's history, owners of Domaine Tariquet, is full of adventure. Originally an Armagnac producing estate, much like everyone else in the area, they were pioneers in making quality wines from the indigenous grapes of Gascony such as Ugni Blanc, Gros and Petit Manseng and all the family's know-how shows in their superb value for money wines. A sweet, elegant, fine and round wine striking a perfect balance between sweetness and acidity. The fruit and varietal aromas lead to pleasant notes of vanilla. The over-ripe grapes are picked before the thrushes (grives) get to them, giving the wine its rich, powerful yet very fresh qualities. The bouquet reveals scents of white truffe and the impression on the palate is one of great charm, balance and fullness. Its spicy character is well to the fore. Produced in very small quantities.
