France | Rhone Valley | Full Bodied, Oaky, Stone Fruits | Viognier |
Founded 185 years ago in the heart of the northern Côtes du Rhône, Delas Freres today crafts world class wines from both northern and southern Rhône. Tending the steep sloping vineyards, which total some 30 hectares of vines, the team adapt their growing practices to each plot of vines to let the terroir of the Rhône shine through in the wines. Crafted by winemaker Jacques Grange, the wines from Delas Freres epitomise finesse and elegance. Recent vintages from the vineyards of Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Côte Rôtie, Condrieu, Côtes-du-Rhône and Côtes-du-Ventoux have been lauded in the press for their intensity of flavour and excellent value. Fermentation takes place in temperature controlled vats to make the most of the complex aromatics of the viognier variety. A maxiumum of 20% is fermented in new oak casks. The wine is aged on the fine lees to improve the texture and richness of the wine, while always preserving the natural aromatics of the varietal. The colour is a straw yellow, with green tinges. This Condrieu has layers of amazingly powerful and complex aromas:violets, apricots, peaches, honey and dried fruit. On the palate, these exuberant flavors are rich, powerful, and highly seductive, with an unctuous texture and a mass of exotic fruit on the finish.
